A quirky tale about being yourself with a goth twist.
This is the first book in my 30 Chapter Books in 30 Days experiment. It was definitely a great choice for me, and all lovers of Addams Family antics and all things goth. Franny K. Stein (ha ha) is a mad scientist/little kid who prefers bats, flying piranhas and tarantulas to dolls. When she starts at a new school, the other kids don’t know what to make of Franny’s snake jumprope or the live bats in her backpack. In order to fit in, she decides to transform into a cute version of herself. She gains instant popularity, but misses doing the things she loves. In the end, a monster attack forces Franny to revert to her old self to save the day. Along the way, she learns an important lesson: it’s better to be yourself, even if you are a mad scientist and most of the kids at school are afraid of you.
By the way, Jim Benton is the same guy who created Happy Bunny. Go figure.

No problem! I’m on the selection committee for a YA book award here in Oklahoma, so I have to read a ton of books, and Blackbringer was the best I’ve read so far! I can’t wait for the sequel! (Wow, that was a lot of exclamation points

hey dude i LOVE the franny k steins.they are so funny.and my favorite is the fran with four brains.i love when one all most let igor get eatan by a shark!:) funny thanks(p.s. i did a school proget for reading and got an A SO thank you)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

OMG! I think you should make more Franny K. Stein books! I am reading LUNCH WALKS AMONG US!!!!! It made me more aware of what other people(And me) eat for lunch!
